When the program launches, it displays everything that you have already downloaded. Scroll down the list until you find a file named “kiwix-desktop” and double click on it.

There will be a folder with the same name as the ZIP file open it and all subfolders until you see a lot of files. Once the download is complete, right-click on the file and click "Extract All". The application is delivered in a ZIP file. To get started, download Kiwix from the Kiwix website.

This example will be for the full version of Kiwix on Windows 11. The installation process varies between operating systems – fortunately, most of them are one-click. The full download will take some time and you will need at least 150 gigabytes of free storage. Kiwix works on Windows, MacOS, most Linux distributions, Android, and iOS. It can also download almost any wiki-based website and supports a tool to grab other websites you might want to save offline.

It is possible to download Wikipedia manually, without using third-party tools, but the process is quite complex. Fortunately, storage is cheaper than it's ever been – it's pretty easy to buy storage for less than $20 a terabyte now. You'll need about 50 gigabytes for a text-only copy, and about another 100 gigabytes if you want all the images.
